# Callout tracking

Callout tracking is an AURA-hosted, real-time tracking page. You don't have to
build your own tracking UI, and it's available to any integration that receives a
tracking URL when a callout is created.

## How it works

When you create a callout **with initial coordinates**, the response includes a
hosted tracking link in the callout's **`url` field**. Redirect the customer
there for live tracking: responder location, status updates, and ETA, modelled
on AURA's own panic app.

    A["Create callout (with coordinates)"] --> B[Response includes web URL]
    B --> C[Redirect customer to URL]
    C --> D["Live tracking: responder, status, ETA"]
    D --> E[Callout closes]
```
* The link stays valid for the life of the callout — if the customer closes it,
  they can return any time while the callout is active.
* Any improvements AURA makes to the tracking experience appear automatically, with
  no work on your side.
See the [Callout lifecycle](/overview/core-concepts/callout-lifecycle) for where
this fits, and [Create a customer callout](/api-reference/callouts/create-customer-callout)
for the callout that returns the URL.
See [Embedded flows](/overview/embedded-flows/overview) for the shared
embedding pattern and sample starter project.
